Abanya-Rwenzori Mountaineering Association is a tourism enterprise dedicated to improving the lives of our community, the Kazingo, and sharing our culture and knowledge with visitors. Tourists have the opportunity to stay with us in our camp grounds or at home stays in Kazingo and Bundibugyo communities. In Kazingo village, our guests can savor local dishes such as posho, matooke, irish potatoes, peas and beans, created using the freshest local ingredients.

Our guests can enjoy an array of different itineraries.  One option is the 6-8 hour hike to the tallest peak in the Northern Rwenzori (3012m), with stunning views of the Rift Valley, Lake George and western Uganda. There is also a longer hike from Kazingo village over the Rwenzori mountains to Bundibugyo Town, from which you will see the Semuliki River and look for bird species unique to this corner of Uganda. Ther eis also th emore relaxing option of a village tour, where you will meet a black smith and a traditional healer; watch craft demonstrations and performances; or embarking on a coffee tour.

Room Description

The accommodation has towels, sheets, composting toilets and bucket bath facilities. Visitors can enjoy complimentary breakfast, lunch and dinner.

  • We educate visitors on environmental issues and explain how their funds support environmental efforts.

  • Profits from tourism funds social development projects such as the construction of schools; agricultural training; purchase of seedlings and/or tools; helping community members with secondary school fees and the cost of professional training; general capacity building of staff; and the development of coffee cooperatives, nursery beds and microfinance rings.
